Update from meeting Monday 24th March 2025

The purpose of this short communication is to let people know what was discussed at the community council meeting.

  • The meeting agreed to create a public register of interests in addition to declarations of interest at each meeting.
  • We are waiting to hear from Tarbert CC about how to share concerns on the reduced winter timetable for the Portavadie ferry.

  • Ros Mc Gee and Iain Waugh introduced their work on the Energy project. The project, can provide energy advice to households now extended from the Colglen area to cover Kilfinan CC area. The project is also developing into community resilience looking at delivering emergency power and Wi-Fi to community halls.

Warmer ColGlen, Tighnabruaich and District

The Colintraive and Glendaruel Development Trust in conjunction with Inspiralba, are pleased to be working in partnership with the Tighnabruaich and District Development Trust to extend the current project across the Tighnabruaich and District area. Some of the areas where we can offer assistance are:

  • Support and information for households relating to energy issues 
  •  Household income maximisation
  • Direct referrals to Home Energy Scotland, ALI Energy and Bute Advice Centre
  • Emergency fuel cards

  • Nicola Greenall will represent the community council at the community resilience event and we will have a detailed discussion on this subject at a future meeting.
  • The local place plan steering group is now established chaired by Nicola Greenall. On line and hard copy surveys about to go out and engagement events are planned. Argyll and Bute Council have extended the process now until December 2025.
  • Responses the engagement on the Argyll Rally were discussed. There is support from some local businesses and residents not affected by the road closures. Major issues were raised by businesses which have to close on the rally stages. Also concerns from a number of residents about the rally impact. The rally organisers had shared a survey they had done which showed 3 times as many of our residents who responded were against the rally. The majority responding to the CC were opposed. A detailed response will be sent to Argyll and Bute Council. This will be published on our website.
  • There is a proposal for a large windfarm above Ardrishaig High Brenfield Wind Farm We will register an interest in the planning application and seek community views.
  • We agreed to contact the Council to understand the decision to stop the mobile library.
